Sample Appearances & Interviews
Huff Post Live, America Weekend, The Regina Brett Show (on an NPR affiliate), City Dads Group Podcast, Lake Effect Radio
Of the topics I speak (or am interviewed) about, the most popular are below. Interviewers/journalists/event leaders can also contact me to inquire about fitting the needs of particular audiences. I am usually available either in person or via phone, Zoom, Google, or their equivalents.
Topic A:
The rise of the female breadwinner/male caregiver family arrangement
Explores questions like whether I planned to become a stay-at-home dad when I was young, what is the hardest part of at-home parenting, how do mothers react to me at playgrounds, what does the role mean for sons and daughters, and how does the role impact a marriage. As I detail highlights of my unlikely journey from trauma scholar to at-home humorist, I also provide a list of things not to say to a stay-at-home dad, along with several healthy alternatives.
Topic B:
The changing definitions of masculinity and success in today’s society
Explores questions like whether I feel less masculine because of my unconventional gender role, how does an at-home parent define success, what do I wish for my daughters’ futures, what is the future of at-home dads, how do they achieve work-life balance, and would I choose my path all over again. I also speculate on the future of gender roles and parenting arrangements.
Topic C:
General parenting advice from a veteran at-home parent
Explores what I have learned from over a decade as a very involved father, and how that might help other dads and moms—both new and veteran, working and stay-at-home.
